The Nevada-Longido team recently met to discuss the excellent work being done by Sauti Moja, a Canadian charity that focuses on improving the lives of indigenous peoples in Africa. Specifically, Sauti Moja focuses their efforts to improve the lives of women and children who live under the most-difficult conditions. Nevada Learning Series is thrilled with the work being done by Sauti Moja, and was happy to donate another cent from every guide sold during the last quarter. Pictured below is the Nevada-Longido team as they met to discuss current projects.

Green Sustainability Initiative

At Nevada Learning Series, we understand the importance of participating in and promoting environmentally responsible business practices. A component of Nevada’s Green Sustainability Initiative is to use environmentally friendly materials in the production of our guides. Our guides use an aqueous coating instead of lamination, which makes our guides completely recyclable, as well as durable. American Forests

American Forests is one of the leading conservation groups in North America. Thanks to American Forests' ongoing planting project, Global ReLeaf, 20 million new trees will be spreading their roots into the next millennium. Through Global ReLeaf, Nevada is sponsoring the replacement of every tree used in our guides and promotional material, and will replant at least one tree for each one we use in the future. Green Team

Nevada is continually looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint. This is the rationale behind the creation of Nevada’s Green Team. Nevada’s Green Team is comprised of a group of dedicated Nevada employees who continually search for new ways to reduce. Whether this means the promotion of recycling both inside the company and out, or if they are promoting the use of environmentally products to our suppliers, they have made a significant impact already.

Google, Symphony, Open Office

Nevada Learning Series is thrilled to launch three new lines of web-office products. Over the past year there has been a growing call for guides on popular web-office products. Nevada has responded with the release of nine new titles: Lotus Symphony Series (Spreadsheets, Documents, and Presentations), the Google Series (Docs, Gmail & Calendar, and Spreadsheets), and OpenOffice.org Series (Writer, Impress, and Calc). On Monday October 1st, 2007, Nevada celebrated its new President Brett Purcell, and upcoming changes with a kick off. With a Theme of “Now and Then”, we felt it was only fitting to take a look into the Pre-computer Era.

Where better to dive into history then to visit the Royal Ontario Museum.

Early Typewriters, is one of the newest exhibits at the ROM today. It offers a variety of the world oldest typing machines, including the Crandall, the Hammonia and the Lambert. The exhibit is host of over 25 machines provided to the museum by Mr Martin Howard.

The excitement of our team event was increased as Martin Howard agreed to be our personal guide for the day. Martin’s passion for his collection was revealed through the tour of his exhibit and the feedback from the team was excellent.

We would like to thank Martin for his time and for being a great highlight to our day. We had a great time and would encourage others to take a trip to the Rom to visit this exhibit.
