Linking and pasting tips

Links allow you to share and update information between worksheets. Information is copied from a source worksheet and pasted into a destination worksheet; each time a change is made to the source worksheet, the destination worksheet is automatically updated.

If you're pasting a link to multiple cells, you need only to paste into one target cell — the additional cells will be added automatically.

Don't use the Paste icon when pasting — the cells won't be linked if you do.

If you link separate workbook files, be sure to keep the files in their original locations on your local or network drives; otherwise, the links will be broken.

Blank cells paste as "0"s.

Links paste data only, not formatting.
